Canon 40D Camera Setup

This is the assembled camera body, T-Ring adapter, focal reducer, and light pollution filter ready to be inserted into the telescope's 2-inch focuser.

This effectively makes the telescope a very large telephoto lens for the camera. Note that magnification is not the important factor when doing deep-sky astrophotography. Many of the beautiful deep sky targets are relatively large, but very, very faint. Therefore, the most important factor is being able to take very long exposures to capture as many photons as possible while keeping inherent noise at a minimum. This is why the telescope mount is critical and often costs three times as much as the telescope tube itself!
